Pakistan Islamic Medical
Association was established in 1979. As an Organization
PIMA has a centre, provincial branches and a female branch.
Traditionally, the central offices of PIMA were located,
where the Central President Stationed. In 1994, a Permanent
Central Secretariat was established in Islamabad.
Central Organization:
It is composed of a President, a General
Secretary and a Central executive. The President is elected
at the time of central convention by secret ballots for
a period of two years. One person can not be elects President
for two consecutive sessions. The General Secretary is
a member of the central executive by designation. The
central executive is elected for a period of two years
on Provincial basis according to the number of PIMA members
in each provice. The central executive holds at least
two meetings each year for review of its work and further
planning.
Provincial Organization:
Each provincial Organization is composed
of a Provincial President, a General Secretary and a Provincial
executive. All the Provincial Presidents & Provincial
executives are elected by Secret ballots at the time of
respective Provincial convention for a period of two years.
Every Provincial President is a member of the Central
Executive by designation. PIMA Azad Kashmir has also been
given the status of a provincial branch along with other
four Provincial branches.
Local Branches:
Local branches are formed in each city
under the Provincial directives. A local branch can be
established, if more than two members of PIMA are present
over there. The local President is elected for a Period
of one year.
Female Branch:
The female members of PIMA constitute
the female branch. All the female members participate
in the biennial election for the Central President of
PIMA. The President of female branch is elected for a
period of two years and only female members cast their
votes in this election. The female branch has a central
organization, Provincial organization and local branches
of its own.
